The historic building located at 139 Church Street in Blackpool is famously known as The Blue Room. It holds a monumental place in sporting history as the birthplace of Blackpool Football Club, which was founded within its walls in 1887. At the time of the club's formation, the Victorian hostelry operated under the name The Stanley Arms Hotel. Over the subsequent decades, the venue transitioned through various names—including the Hogs Head and the Stanley Beer Engine—but it became most affectionately and permanently etched into local culture during the mid-to-late 20th century as The Blue Room, serving as a legendary social hub, live music venue, and popular student hangout.
After falling into disrepair and closing in 2015, the building was saved by businessman and former Blackpool Mayor Robert Wynne, who invested £350,000 to completely restore the heritage site. Reopening in December 2017 as 1887 The Brew Room, the venue combined its rich footballing and musical legacy with a modern micro-brewery. The establishment has since evolved into the Rhythm & Brew Room. It features dedicated Blackpool FC memorabilia showcases, hosts frequent live music events, and serves craft beers produced on-site by the Pool Brewing Co..
